Our vision
EARTH WEAVERS is a movement towards a more handmade, local and sustainable world. The ecosystem is a platform for local skill-sharing communities, and provides the infrastructure for creating a more handmade, local and sustainable world.
The story
It began with a vision of a world where we provide for each other locally: we share our gifts, and get everything we need in everyday life from people we know. To get there, we need to learn crafts and produce more locally. This is where EARTH WEAVERS was born.
Since then it has grown into a network of local communities that share the same roots: to recall the crafts of our ancestors, connect to the earth and make things that are useful.
The ECOSYSTEM is a platform that provides the software needed to create, manage and run workshops and host a network. We gather all the technical stuff in one place, so those who want to run and take part in workshops can do so without spending hours behind a screen.
Purpose
EARTH WEAVERS is a platform for people who meet to share skills within craft, self-sufficiency and nature-based knowledge. Through shared workshops we learn and teach each other to make things by hand, live more from the earth and create a local production of what we use every day.
We host monthly workshops in various places and share skills and resources, so that craft becomes available to more people.
The vision
We weave, spin, forage, bake, bind books, make soap and knit — and in every way recall the crafts of our ancestors, connect to the earth and make things we need day to day.
It is neither a school nor a hobby. It is a way of life, a community and infrastructure that paves the way for regeneration of the earth.
How it works
We meet to learn crafts. You can take part anywhere, or be closely tied to one place. At every workshop you go home with something in your hands — and with skills for life.
As a member you can attend all workshop, host your wn, and seel you products.
We work with natural materials — foraged, reused or otherwise local and sustainable. We forage and process natural materials into fibres and food, and source organic, local materials as far as possible.
Everyone is welcome — whatever your level. You can be completely new and curious, or have your own practice and want to learn more and build community. We facilitate for each other: if you have a craft to share, we invite you to pass it on to the community.
The rhythm of the year
We follow the wheel of the year. We forage what is available through the season, and do the crafts that make sense in each time of year. The Wheel of the Year, tells you about the plants in nature, and gives inspiration for crafts – you can add your knowledge to it. Explore, sign up for a workshop, add your foraging spots to the map, start a thread in the forum - welcome!
